Teams

Nobody wants to walk or run alone. Whether made up of a family, group of friends,  coworkers, or a little bit of everything, teams are what drive The Parkinson's Rally Walk & 5K.  Those who create a team are considered team leaders, but everyone is responsible for helping.

Consisting of coworkers, family, or group of friends, team members are instrumental in helping your team take steps to raise funds and awareness for Parkinson’s families in Oklahoma.  Here are some tips for
you to be successful.

Create Your Team

If you are not already on a team, then create one  by clicking here.

Have a nickname for your grandfather? That could be a great team name.  Is your team made up of coworkers? The company name may be a good diea.  No matter what you choose, try and pick a name that stands out!

Customize Your Participant Center Page

Does a loved one have Parkinson’s? Do you have a friend who is passionate about it?  Use your page to tell others why you are participating in this event.  Be sure to add a picture as well!

Set Your Team Goal

Teams that set goals raise more than those that do not.   Be sure to set your team fundraising goal on your team’s web page and shoot for the moon!  A good place to start is $100 per participant.

Recruit Your Team

This is where the fun begins.  Ask 15-20 family members, friends,
and co-workers to join your team as a fundraising
Walker or Runner.  These are those who will come out and participate in the event.

You can invite them by sending out email invitations through your particiapnt center, facebook, or in person.  At the same time, invite them to ask their network of people to join the team.  Remember, there is no cost to participate!

Encourage Team Members

Encourage those who have signed up to set a personal fundraising goal on their webpage, and then to use their participant center to emails to ask family, friends, and co-workers for donations. This allows you to track the progress of your entire team and know who is participating.

Remember, not everyone who donates has to participate.  Even if they do not run or walk, they can still support the event!

Bring Your Team to the Kick off Party

Invite friends and family to join you at our annual Kick off Party! It is a great way to bring your team together and build momemtum for the event.  During this come and go event, they will have the opportunity to register, turn in donations, ask questions, meet the staff, and talk with other participants.

Appetizers will be provided.  This years event will be held on Wednesday, March 1st at the Rusty Crain in Downtown Tulsa from 5:30- 7:30pm.

Celebrate your Top Fundraisers

Keep your team motivated by sending your members updates with the total amounts raised.  Share success stories, Parkinson Foundation of Oklahoma updates, and fundraising tips. T-shirt Incentive. Remind all Walkers on your team that if they raise $100 or more, they will receive a Walk in the Park T-shirt.

Help Members Reach their Goals

Remind team members to send an email to those people who have not responded to their online appeal.  Ask Particapnts and donors to find out about any company matching gift or sponsorship opportunities.  Often times, companies will match an employees gift to double its impact!

Celebrate your Success and Attend the event!

Thank Your Team

Be sure to show appreciation to your team for participating and raising funds to fight Parkinson’s Disease, and invite them to join you again next year!
